Anyone tried the summit racing paint?

They have a metallic blue color that is almost perfect for my 60....

ford do a metallic blue?

I saw a metallic blue on a 1989 Lincoln town car this weekend

must be then

Works for me, my 40 is 1969 corvette white.

This way, I have even more ferd parts on bob..

Any other input on the Summit paint? Just noticed it the other day. OP, did you use it? How has it held up?

Never got around to using it, sorry amigo.

Well, since Earl Scheib has gone out of buisness and one day paint n body wants over 8 bills to paint the 60. I'm going to just buy the summit stuff and go to town.

I was planning on using this primer.

And this paint

It looks like the hardener and reducer are the same for both. Is a single bottle of each going to be enough for both the primer and the paint?

I also have not been impressed with the duplicolor line of bed liners. So I am going to try out the Monstaliner to see how well it does.
Monstaliner do-it-yourself roll-on truck bed liner outperforms Herculiner Bed Liner, Duplicolor and Rustoleum Road Warrior

there is also a bunch of other stuff like fish eye remover and degreaser, how important are they?

Paint and primer is ordered.. Now to figure out how to fix the dent in the door :D

Got the primer on the parts of the truck that are not going to be bedlined. Now I need to wet (or dry) sand the truck.

The primer did not go on as smooth as I expected, but I did not reduce it at all either. So sanding will be necessary to get a nice flat surface to paint over. My god you can spray that primer thick and heavy. It's also REALLY hard to get it to run. I was spraying it on thick!

I have some 320 dry sandpaper that I can put on the DA sander. Will that remove more material that I want to?
I also have some 400 grit and 600 grit wet/dry sand paper that I could put on a block and sand away. Would the be a better option?

DA sounds a heck of a lot better, but if it is still too aggressive I'll just spend the day with a hose and the 400/600 grit sandpaper :)

Finally got it sprayed.

Turned out okay. I am obviously not a painter. But the results are acceptable :)

Going to wait a week and then tape off and apply the Monstaliner :)

CAn't wait to have the pain on this rig DONE!!!!

So what were your impressions of the Summit Paint? I have some plans to do a little trimming and welding on my ARB and I have a set of Tundra wheels that I want to clean up and paint, and I was thinking of using the metallic gunmetal to do both, and the sliders and rear bumper once I finally get them.

How did it spray out? What kind of gun(s) do you have? Did the paints mix well?

Oh, and the Cruiser looks good too.

Thanks,

Tucker

I like the paint

It laid down really nicely

Harbor freight guns baby.. Cheap, but hell, I am just going to scratch the truck up right off the bat anyway..

The paints mixed very well.

Mace,
First time I have heard of Monstaliner. I checked out the link you provided, how was the final result? Did you roll on or sacrifice one of your high dollar Harbor Freight guns?

Perfect.
