After 5 LCDCs, I am now hooked on Colorado in July. I'm starting to think/plan next summer's adventure. I'm thinking about taking a couple weeks wandering and either ending or beginning at Cruisers on the Rockies in Silverton. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. KC to Walsenburg Co stay overnight then take trail through Medano Pass to the Great Sand Dunes and camp a day there and check out the dunes.
2. Head up to Creede and get to Lake City then take Cinnamon Pass to Ouray
3. Hang out in Ouray for a couple days and run some trails.
4. Head up to Montrose and take Rim Rocker to Moab.
5. Check out Moab for a couple days. I know July isn't ideal for Moab but I've never been there and I want to do Rim Rocker.
6. Find another interesting way back to Ouray/Silverton for Cruisers on the Rockies (July 24 - 28).

Or do Rim Rocker to Moab after Cruiser on the Rockies.

Anyone thinking about Cruisers on the Rockies? SAS would be right after that. Anyone interested in Rim Rocker (any one done it)? Seem like that would be fun with a small convoy (plus I'd really like some company so there are people to help pull me back on the road if I drive off again...)

I did Rim Rocker back in 2020. I think it's kind of interesting as a connector between the San Juans and Moab. It has some scenic parts, but doesn't really compare to the quality of trails and views in Moab and the San Juans themselves. Maybe a fun and slow way to avoid the interstate, but it didn't really blow my hair back. Hope that helps?

I’ve got the same feedback by others. I’m starting to think about just doing Cruise Moab in April. Then just go and stay in the San Juans for COTR in July.

Anyone thinking about Cruise Moab this year?

Same boat - after spending a week in the San Juans the last couple years for SAS, I want to go back every year. Unfortunately SAS isn’t a lock for me this year because of family commitments, so I was thinking about COTRockies instead this year. Any chance you know 2025 dates and when sign ups open?

I thought I saw dates somewhere but now can’t find anything. Website just says “coming in July”. Cruisers on the Rockies II | Cruisers on the Rock - https://www.cruisersontherocks.com/event-details/cruisers-on-the-rockies-ii

Cruise Moab registration opens up this Saturday (Feb 1) at 10:00 MST. Event is April 23-27. I'm going to try and get in. If anyone from TAC is also going, please shout out and maybe we can form a caravan.

Hey I got in. I was 168th in line. I don't know how many rigs they let in but I'd guess it's around 200 or so. Looking forward to this. First time at Moab for me.

sounds like a solid plan...

Near the sand dunes, I would encourage you to check out the waterfall at Zapada Falls.

There is a loop through the hills at Creede that goes by some neat old mines and is an easy trail, but nice. Don't miss the underground fire station.

I am not a fan of Cinnimon. I would recommend Engineer to Mineral if you want a straight shot ( you can try to beat our record of 2 hours 10 minutes). or drop down to Animas forks and do a number of trails there.

What don’t you like about Cinnimon? I’ve never done it but I have done Engineer to Mineral. I was only thinking Cinnimon because I haven’t checked that one off.

If I was to compare them, I like Engineer better; however, if you have not done Cinnimon, then you should do it. Both take you from Lake City over to the same basic area.
