Ok, so it's looking like everyone is shooting for the May 21-22 for Bass Camp.

It may be time to get a single post going covering the plans for this trip. My question is WHERE THE HELL IS IT????

I have searched all over and the only thing anyone posts is their pictures, but everyone seems to refuse to give the directions. What makes this particular spot so special that it must be kept a secret? You can find every other ghost town, mine sight and mine camp, but for some reason Bass Camp is excluded.

Anyone else having any luck "finding" it?

I'm fairly certain its on the north side of the Excelsior Mountains Jack. I believe, unless someone has the exact location, we should plan on heading in via Rattlesnake Flat. The 4wd trail to Thunder Mountain looks interesting too; ditto for Douglas Camp. For all I know that could be the exact location for Bass Camp. But based upon my non-exact research results its gotta be close to there. Another general area I found made mention of Moho Mountain, Hawk Mine and Endowment Mine areas while a group was on their way to Bass Camp.

I agree, I've also seen reference of it being close to Marietta, like I said, everyone dances around the location and it seems like there are multiple ways of getting there. I just couldn't find an exact lat/long location to know for sure.

There was also mention that the road to it was "interesting," but you have to take that with a grain of salt, because my idea and their idea of interesting could be way off. I'm just hoping that a full-size truck can get there. One post mentioned only seeing ATV tracks and that the road was better suited to ATV's over trucks. Guess we will see.

So are you going to try and make this one?

I drove by the turn to Marietta today. If we had more time I would have done some re-con. IIRC from SR360 the road to Marietta heads north and ends up around Hawthorn someplace. Somewhere along the road is Bass Camp.

Rattle snake flat via Garfield flat or Whiskey Flat?

:princess: and I took the Garfield flat road from Mina to Hawthorn one time, nice high speed gravel road.

I seem to recall Marietta being mentioned in a couple of Bass Camp trip reports FWIW.
