Hello all, I came home from vacation to find my '85 fj60 with the catalytic converter cut off and am looking for suggestions to get through emissions without having to purchase an $829 new one. Thanks for your help. Are they still doing equip. checks?

Howdy! High pref cats area around $100 from speed shops like Summit if you can find your own welder. Otherwise, head down to your local muffler shop. Couple hundred should get you a generic installed. And yest, they still do visual insspections at the smog stations.l John

Funny...I cut out my two cats and moved to one. My rig flew through with out any "visual" inspection. The work was done at Mesa Muffler and I'm happy with the work.

That may be true, but on older carbed rigs they tend to drag out the roller mirrors and look under neath to check for cats. John

I have my old one I just took off I might sell as I don't think it will do much for the new v8 thats gone in.
