The rear camera and display simply sucks for my 2010...no guidance lines, dim display, poor field of vision, rain affects images, etc. Does anyone have suggestions for a nice camera with a dash mounted display?

I intend on adding the Brandmotion aftermarket unit for BSM and RCTA features but I still need a better camera and display. Thanks.

Wow..that didn't go over too well. No one feels the same about OEM camera/display?

I think the lack of response is because nobody has found an elegant solution, even though it's been asked several times. Yeah, the camera quality sucks, especially compared to the latest offerings from other manufacturers.

I do know that if I end up towing a large camper again, I'll be investing in a wireless camera/screen setup, so I can see what's going on behind me. I hate not being able to see. I also wish there was a way to manually turn on the rear camera while in forward motion.

You can do camera upgrades but only if you do the factory display/amp update to after market. Once you get the android units like grom or others, upgrading to a better resolution cameras is possible.

Thanks..what would be best search words or terms to use so I can read up on? Electronics are greek to me. Tanks

I’m in this boat too. Save I don’t have a Toyota camera/screen setup to bemoan. I’m looking for a solid dash cam that has forward/cabin and wireless/bluetooth rear camera setup. Anyone have setups they like?

Love my 2008. 0 need for a change for me, as I not messing around with my center cluster. What has really helped me is super bright reverse light - which really improves the visiblity on the monitor.

One of our local 200 series guys, who tows a lot, has a separate camera by the A pillar. Have you thought about something like that?

Quality, durability, and reliability is going to be on you.

Separate system mod:
Find an offroad trail camera addon kit, or rv camera kit. They have their own screen, cameras, etc. Wont look stock, but its easily removable or addable.

Full system mod:
Search landcruiser android headunit you'll find the first piece to the puzzle which is to improve the displayed image from the stock camera.

From there you can now figure out what kind of cameras are available. Toyota cameras run on a different voltage then most aftermarket cam, so you have to figure that out.

I’m definitely looking for aftermarket. Doesn’t need to be stock looking. Would love something that can be attached to back of an off-road caravan as I tow about 90% of the time I’m not in the city. If anyone has recommendations to off-road trail camera’s, I’m all ears.

Main reason for this mod isn’t to see rocks and such, but to have a security record to back me up for when driving in countries with corrupt police (like where I am). Also to be able to see pedestrians approaching from behind when loaded up or stopped in traffic. Situational awareness it’s important to me. However, I’m also off-road a lot, so I need something that can take the city, and the bush, if such a system exists….
