Neutering the warning screen to use the camera when reversing was on my short list. Now, for some reason, when I go into reverse I get the camera display and no warning screen. Why? I did not consciously change the settings any where that I recall.

Not a clue. i did not think i did anything except disable the ECO light. For whatever reason it goes instantly to the backup view with the multiple sets of location lines displayed. Much better than the initial months where I had to touch a soft button on the display.

Sorry for the spin-off, but how did you disable the ECO light? I know I've seen the option, but now I can't find it.

I was recently en route to Ouray and needed to reboot the truck. Suddenly the backup screen warning was Back. I understand that I did it to myself. Back home, I got fed up with the warning screen and went into the standard setup screens on the display. Did I see an option to kill the warning. No. Is it gone --- yes. I don't know what I did actually and now I am unwilling to experiment and bring the curse back onto my truck. But the trick is in the setup screens. I did not use a OBD cable to access anything. I did work through the setup screens while the truck was running and the transmission was in reverse. Does that make a difference? I don't know. I also cycled through the various settings at the bottom of the camera display (parallel parking, setting a limit line (red) and so on. I don't ever recall noticing those options before. But that could easily have been overlooked before.

I also got rid of the warning, YAY!.
I don't know if that was the trigger but I was in reverse, engine on, and changed the backup camera view to show the grids instead of the goal posts. I also got rid of the ECO light but I do not think this is linked to the warning. Most likely the different view is doing the trick.
Not touching anything anymore as I do not want to revert to the stupid warning.

Not that the warning bothers me but I did try to figure out if this was an available option on my 08 - its not.

How did you get to the settings for the grid? Mine is off but I think my wife needs it on

It's a button on the backup camera screen, you need to have the engine running, be in reverse, on the camera view screen there is a small button showing a grid.
