hey guys im putting a 12ht in my 40 at the end of the year and just want to know if anyone at all has attempted to install a 12ht into a 40 and if so where they able to run p/s and a/c?? i know it would be very tight but just seeing if anyone has done it yet?? as im going to attempt it at the end of the year. also im just looking for pics of a 40 with a even a 2h just to see the size of it in a 40.

also with the conversion when i install the motor should i just use engine mounts out of a hj47 as they came with a h diesel in them and they would be relatively the same, also should i use the hj47 gearbox mount as my motor come with a five speed.

Since your truck is RHD, clearance of the turbo should not be an issue for either the power steering gearbox or the brake booster.

The HJ45 came with the H engine, while the HJ47 came with the 2H. Actually, the perfect engine mounts for what you are wanting would come out of an early HJ60 (1980~82 I think), as these are the same as the 47 series mounts except for the addition of a tab on the right hand mount for the power steering vane pump attachment. The 47's never came with power steering from Toyota.

See page 31 of my build thread for some pictures of the 2H installed, with most of the front sheet metal off.

Your rad will need to come forward an inch and a half or so, and the lower inlet cut and re-attached at a 45˚ angle to the side.

That looks pretty much the same as what I have -- however i was talking about the cast iron mount, not the rubber engine isolator piece. It would make sense though that the isolator would be the same if the mount was.

Check with private parts 4wd, who sell on eBay Oz, if you want to find the correct cast iron mounts.

What year of 40 are you doing this conversion with? If it's a '79~84, then the tranny support piece bolts right in, if it's earlier, then you will be welding the tranny support member in. I'm not sure the exact date when the support mount changed, but I'm pretty sure it was around the same time that the H engine was superseded by the 2H.

I have an 80 HJ45 that had a cracked block H in it. Decided to put in a 2H and everything had to be changed from the motor mounts/trans/trans mounts to starter. Nothing matched up........It was a project.......
