i need some help. I am working on a friends 97 suburban with a 5.7l v8. he was driving one day and it just cut out. from there he replaced the fuel pump and it ran poor. so he replaced wires, plugs and distributor cap. when he was tightening the screws he cracked the cap. long story short bought a new rotor and can't get it to run for 4 years. now i come around and we have the #1 piston tdc on the compression stroke and the rotor aligned with the #1 plug. still no start. we cleaned the plugs and it ran on its own better than it did when he had it running before but only at 680 rpms. i tried turning the cap and it did not do anything remaind at the same rpms. so we started from scratch again and can't get it to start. so again and again we pulled the distrubutor and keep getting everything to be tdc on the 1 and still nothing....?
any advice or another technique? thx
