my 76fj 40 has been acting up. here is what happens- trouble idling, while accelerating say your shifting into 2nd or 3rd, you let the clutch out and go to gas it and it'll buck and such. it will backfire on occasion when down shifting..
im looking for any trouble shooting ideas i can use, and or solutions!
thanks

Vacuum leak.

I just had a similar(sp) problem fixed on my '78 40. It was a spring inside the carb, I guess it was not springing. Clemson 4 wheel did the work, if you called they would probably tell you exactly what they did. They worked on it last Thursday.

The idling problem is often a manifold vacuum leak. The bucking during acceleration is often a fuel starvation/lean mixture condition. Both problems could be caused by a non-functioning idle fuel cut off solenoid.
