So here’s how the story goes:

6 in the afternoon and I’m leaving work to meet someone…well on the way the lil path catches my eye, so I figure I got time and make a u-turn…well I decide go down the path to see where it goes…went through some deep ruts and get to a large mud puddle…common sense told me to back up…but I went anyway…turned out to be deeper than I expected and I get stuck…there was such a sharp incline going in that my spare and hitch we on the ground and my rear wheels couldn’t touch the ground

So fast forward past me walking to Food Lion, friend not willing to risk getting stuck, and me ending back at work..

Well I call around and the average price to get me out was $65+…well I didn’t have that much and there was no way I could get back to the truck b/c I was stuck at work…so I do the only thing I could do…went on the Land Cruiser forums I was a member of to find anyone in NC that was online. I sent a coupe pm’s and mtweller replied…he was willing to help a fellow fzj80 owner who was in a pinch

Well he get here and we ride down to where my I was stuck at about 11pm (4 hours after I got stuck) and see that the water level went down about a foot…so we get hooked up and on the second attempt after readjusting his truck he was able to pull me free…wife wasn’t even upset that I got HER fzj80 stuck in the first place.

It was fun. I used my '04 Silverado instead of the FJ40.

I hope everyone gets a kick out of that picture of me in a wife-beater, but hey, it was after 11PM afterall.

BluCivic, it was nice to meet you, but now you have to come to at least one ONSC meeting :) Now, it's off to the carwash....

Juan, did you think there is more than one guy out there who's THAT good looking?

When you want to come get your panels? I am willing to cook dinner for you and the Mrs.

Nice intro and welcome BLU CIVIC! Sounds like you're gonna be paying up to the wife for that. ;)

sweet Ramon should of called me I am always up late, Would have drivin my silverado also (still no front driveshaft in the 40)lazy

For a WolfPacker, yes... but not everyone could expect that kinda service :) It would also cost you at least one tall, frosty Guinness....mmmmm Guinness

Welcome Blu Civic and great story! Next time you get stuck you can shoot me a PM I'm always ready to go on an adventure.

Says you live in Durham, where at? I live in Durham too along with Trapper.

I wasn't wheeling, by any means. Just trying to help someone out of a jam. People are so sensative about treaspassing these days. I grew up in the country, in a time when any dirt road was fair game and nobody cared. Now, everyone is so scared of getting sued... anyway, guess I should have left him stranded so I wouldn't have been illegal???

Do I get a prorated refund on my dues?

I've done the same thing, don't get me wrong. We recovered a kid's Jeep that got stuck, and then the lake rose, and buried it .

As my junk and a Unimog were dragging its sorry ass out to the road, we were greeted by the County's finest. Once we expained that were back there purely for extraction, we were let off but just told that we should have contacted the land owner prior to the extraction.

At any rate, don't get worked up, Ramon - my comment was directed more at Blu Civic, he may not have realized that he was even doing anything wrong.. I know I sure didn't when I started out, until I was informed by some folks who had been in the game a while. And I certainly was not anywhere near being in "a****** mode" when I made that post, so I think the attitude towards me was a little uncalled for.

If the collective "you" (not directed at anyone in particular) wanna go do it, that's your perogative.. I'm no ones daddy, just trying to politely inform of what is and isn't legal, and what can possibly happen if you're caught. I've just seen more than one mention of this kind of wheling, and the legality was never brought up by anyone else, so I was just politely informing.

If the club doesn't care, that's fine, just let me know, and I won't say a damn thing about it ever again.

That said, as mentioned above, it never stops me from helping get someone out if they get stuck/broke however, and I doubt you'll ever hear someone say that I won't do/give whatever it takes to make sure they get home OK.
