Hi everyone

I've got a 98 100 with now 230k miles & it's been faultless with two minor exceptions...

A couple coil packs failed in the spring & needed replacing - no big deal.

But a couple other times now & usually on a long trip I've had it die on me at idle

Both times I tracked it down to the throttle cable jam nuts which had gotten loose.

The odd thing is that I basically need to have it adjusted completely out to get the right idle speed.

The amount of adjustment range is pretty big so I'm surprised I'm basically at the end.

Have you seen original throttle cables stretch that much?

Thanks

We have two 98's, my wife's with 250k and mine with 180k, and never had any issues like that. Having worked part time in a bike shop wrenching on bikes (bicycles) I know cables DO stretch, that's why a good bike shop will offer free tune-ups for about a year after purchase because cables stretch and things get out of alignment (brakes, shifting, etc.).
But never seen it on either of ours.
