So where I live in Boise, Idaho stray cats are everywhere.

Four years ago a buddy of mine bought a house here from his family. We started remodeling it and right away stray cats were a problem. They were crapping everywhere on the property and in our work areas. One even died on the porch. So we started trapping them. Almost all are feral. In four months or so we trapped over 40 cats. Humane Society picks them up but since they are feral they can’t give them away as pets. I think they were putting them down when we first started trapping them. Near the end of that they told us they were no longer putting them down. Instead they spay/neuter, clip an ear for identification and release. Thats great and all but they are still around.

It is really bad here in the suburb I live in. There must be thousands of them on the streets. I got my own place here in the same neighborhood now.

The last couple years I haven’t paid much attention to them other than they climb on my Cruiser and leave muddy paw prints and even scratches on it. That and the poop around my shop and in my backyard.

Fast forward to December and I get a puppy. I clean up any and all cat poop I can find in my backyard and start staying on top of that. The puppy helps keep them out of the backyard but they are still crapping in my yard.

Now I don’t think my puppy is eating it but I am not 100% sure of that. Right now I am sitting at the vet with an emergency because my five month old puppy has had diarrhea since last Thursday.

I really dislike stray cats. It is a real bummer because people are to blame not the cats but this s***ting on my property needs to stop.

I am not sure how to deal with it. Any suggestions on how to keep them out of my yard?

Cheers

Put out some antifreeze....
I'm next to a crazy old cat lady and she feeds strays in the neighborhood so there's a ton around me.

My pit keeps them out of the yard, have found a couple dead back there.
Citrus doesn't really work or you have to keep it fresh constantly.

What I put out can’t kill my dog too. I am also not into a slow painful death for them even if I don’t like them.

I found some 220v horse wire fencing! Haha not sure I can make it work on the top of my fence but looking into it.

Cheers
