Hi Guys,
I have a 1988 Fj62, aussie spec high roof with carb, points dizzy, LPG and petrol.
Cold it starts first turn of the key on LPG, when its warm it cranks for around 10 seconds before it starts.
On petrol it cranks for a while when cold.
It does this even if I only start it for 5 second and shut it off.
If I shut it off and restart it straight away it will fire, but if I leave it for over 30 seconds it cranks for a while.
I thought fuel problems, but I run on LPG and petrol and it does it on both so it shouldn't be a carb problem.
It runs well on both LPG and petrol, so it has got me puzzled, I am sure it wil be something simple, but it;s got me beat.
I am now thinking distributor advance is not working correctly, (points), because sometimes when I pul up at the lights it idles a bit rough, gibe it a rev and it smooths out?
What do you guys think???
Any new ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have your foot flat when you start warm?
Im pretty sure the owners manual recommended that on the 3F.

Tried it all, if I give it any throttle it will not start and will just crank.
If I give it a bit of throttle and let it go it will fire after about 10 seconds.
