Hope you all had a great xmas break.
I am encountering a strange electrical problem since I've installed a new set of HID lights to replace the one that have one blown side.
Saturday:
- Received new HID set in the afternoon, install set matching previous wiring.
- Tested HID lights everything seems normal
- In the evening, wife told me the truck's parking lights are on
- Tried to turn off the parking lights, but can't do so no matter what I do.
- Disconnected battery in the time being.
Sunday:
- Left for Tahoe skiing in the early morning 4am, reconnected the battery
- Everything seems normal during the day
- In the evening, the parking lights turn on by themselves again.
- Couldn't find any way to turn it off, disconnected battery in the 30F weather.
Monday:
- Still in Tahoe, strange things started to happen.
- The battery warning light (Red Battery) started to turn on intermittently.
- A while later, the warning light will turn off if I put leave in the "On" pos.
- The warning light will turn on if I leave the combo switch in the "Auto/Park/Off"
- In the evening, the parking lights turn on by themselves again.
- Disconnected battery again
Tuesday:
- Coming back, now is even more weird...
- The "Brake" warning light will be dimly lit if the combo switch in the "Auto/Park/Off" position.
- The battery warning light (Red Battery) will turn on intermittently.
- Puzzled, but can't do nothing as the traffic was really bad
Wednesday (today):
- Thinking it was related to the HID lights, went to Reilly to get stock H1 bulbs
- Installed H1 bulbs
- Now the issue is the headlights won't turn off no matter what I do
- Headlights stay on even if I remove the key from the ign and turn light OFF
- I can switch the fogs on and off without even putting in the key...
A few things I tried:
- switched polarity on the H1 bulb, same thing
- battery reading is 13.5V on the diagnostic screen
Did I fry something? Where should I continue troubleshoot?
Thank you!
