#1: Be safe. Make sure your family is safe

#2: Put your Land Cruiser in the garage. Kids toys, wife's car, old furniture, lawn mower etc can go outside

Absolutely!! Be safe!

Safe in the garage right now, good time to do some projects :)

Thank God we are done with that. That was the worst storm in my 45 years in Florida.

wilma was worse down here, lost power for two weeks after that one.
Be fun to hit the trails this weekend.

Someone doesn't remember Andrew ...

I am in Winter Garden. Andrew was not as lo
Where are you located? Out of curiosity.
Winter Garden. Your right. I don't remember Andrew. They say time heals all pain! I know this one affected me more because it was my house with my giant oak trees. In 92 I was still at home without a worry in the world. The cleanup is mostly done and I'm good forever if we don't get another. It's Florida so there will be more!

I wasn't even born yet in 92 but my both my parents and pairs of grandparents were in Miami for Andrew so they made extra sure to let us know how much carnage THAT was...

Life right now is like the Clint Eastwood spaghetti Western where they painted the town and named it Hell. Otherwise, very thankful it wasn't worse and everyone is safe, especially my parents who had just arrived to the Lake Wales area in their 42 diesel pusher, that stayed upright.

Went to pull the 40 out of the garage to get the winch on this tree that's a lot bigger and more precarious than the picture shows - dead battery. Will take my gel cell trickle charger over to Martins tmmrw to charge it.

Aside from the heat, the biggest insults so far: declining repeated offers from my parents to take their spare generator a few months back (trying to downsize); swell from Jose hit today and don't have the time to go surf; and this fawking heat. It is just brutal!

Otherwise, did damage assessment in the Glades on Monday, and it wasn't as bad as you'd think. Not good, but again - except for fawking power outages everyone seemed safe - including a number of structures with no storm shutters, an relatively new modular in an RV park that wasn't even tied down, etc. etc. Also, friends on Ft. Myers Beach that no longer carry insurance (1920's stilt shack worth 3/4 mil) came away unscathed. Absolutely amazing.

Hope everyone else is managing.

Got a good chunk of this unraveled and cut up yesterday, but without recovery gear in Cruiser, didn't want to risk the Duramax having a tree fall on it (already used it to pull down the smaller stuff, but didn't want a "Hey ya'all watch this" moment).

Especially since I had to drive it several blocks away and park it behind a warehouse after some smaller trees let loose in the driveway during the storm.
