:crybaby::mad::bang: so i went to see trollhole yesterday and started hearing something like a rubbing sound. Get to his warehouse and look under the truck and there is oil everywhere!!! So i guess my rear main seal finally died on me. I stopped on the way home at a carwash and sprayed everything down best i could . Get under it this morning and though there is signs of oil leaking it does not look that bad. So i take some pics!!

now my pics are not quite as good as i had hoped but what i assume to be the transmission pan has oil on it. It is not gear oil.

so today i make a short run to ace hardware which is less that 2miles from my house. Get out of the truck and hear something gushing!! Guess what pic #3 is??? The water pump seal!!!! So now my water pump must be pulled and replaced!!!:bang:

I am praying that when i saw all that oil at trollholes it was because water was blowing back as i was going down the rd. and making everything drip drop!! At least i can dream...

You need to remove the inspection cover (what you call the transmission pan) to see your rear main seal leak.

Best of luck.

HAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMoooooooommmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!

looked fine yesterday at trollholes. More worried about water pump at the moment.

so is the imspection cover the big flat thing that looks like an oil pan? Will it rain oil when removed?

It's the pan in the very 1st picture of this thread. It is supposed to be empty, however, if you have been losing oil, expect some oil and grime to fall out. Just wear saftey glasses when working under the cruiser. Rust and dirt seem to fall from everywhere under these old trucks while turning a wrench.

Definitely get the water pump fixed first. But while it is down waiting on parts I would get to know that oil leak a little better.

No, pic #3 is not your water pump seal. That is your crankcase pulley you are looking at. Not sure what that material is hanging down, but it could be part of your oil pan gasket.

That water is probably coolant coming from above. You need to find the source which could be your water pump or a hose.

Most definitely find the source first. It might be worthwhile to rent a hot water pressure washer and get that grime off so you can diagnose it. Whoever you get to look at it for you will be much more willing to help with a cleaner slate.;)

i at work now so no. Gonna put it on flat ground and run it tommorow and see. It was def coolant though. I may see about getting my dads pressure washer up to the house. Gotta fix it by nov. 5 so i can camp.
