Would they work with an OME 2.5 lift? I may put them on my 60 and swap by 33 x 9.50s on to the stocker.
Yes, but no matter what the lift you will need to get the correct backspacing on your wheels or they will hit the brake calipers in the front. 3.5 or less. Some wheels are different and you can get away with a little more but you would have to try them. I have tried 3.75 that work and others that dont.
These are all stock wheels. Will they hit the calipers?
Stock wheels won't hit the calipers but 33x12.5x15 will hit the front springs on hard cornering and will hit the inside of the rear wheel well on articulation, been there, done that. I went to 32x11.5x15 and it's fine on stock wheels.
Okay. On my 1989 FJ62, I have the OME heavy/heavy kit, which is about 3" of lift. I bought some 15x8 rims with a 3.25" backspacing. I test-fit one rim up front on the driver's side and it clears the brake caliper and the TRE no problem. I want to put 33x12.5's on 'em. As I understand it, I should have no rubbing issues. What do you guys think?
i dont wanna speak for everyone, cause there is a loooot of variation of opinion on this subject, but ill try to sum up as best as i can... but dont hold me to it
33x12.5 will fit (sort of) on stock everything, but aint advised and itll rub... sorta ghetto fab
skinnier 33s are a lil better of an idea, but youre still getting to the high end of the usable range in terms of gearing
smaller seems to fit just fine and youll lose less power
with the ome lift (or a comparable lift, approx. 2 or 2.5 inches) 33x12.5 is a real good match, but nothing is stopping you from going smaller other than aesthetics, and some people like the skinny look
and some people run up to 34s but with rubbing
does that seem like somewhat of a decent summary for people?
as for my 2 cents... i think things like the ome kit are worth it if youre gonna do anything other than drive it on sundays only.
mine is my daily driver... it rides amazing in every situation, flexs fine for my uses, seems heavy duty enough so far, doenst detract from handling much if at all, and looks good on top of it all
but a refurbished stock suspension (i have no experience with stock susp in good condition) is rumored to ride very well. toyota isnt a company of idiots, im sure they didnt design it poorly, its just old and worn out, and theres something to be said for the stock look not only in terms of nostalgia but also efficiency
(anyone watch south park?) does that sparkle with everyone?
