I was looking for some stock BJ70 wheels, and all I could find were ones from trucks that were 5.5" wide. Are these the same, even though they may come off a truck with front drum brakes?

Depends on the year of your truck and the bolt pattern. Later model 70's are 5 bolt and I'm not sure of the year they made the transition.

All Toyota alloys with the 6 bolt pattern in a 15" rim size will interfere with either your front callipers or tie rod ends. You will need spacers to make them work

16's will work in the typical forerunner (surf) alloy - i'm running these as a winter tire rim. They are 6" wide. I'm not sure if other toyota 16" alloys will clear your callipers and rods

The 17's found on the new FJ cruiser will bolt on.

Cheers,

John

Thanks for the info. Sorry I wasn't more detailed. My truck is an 85 BJ70.

I guess what I'm wondering is how wide the FJ60/FJ62/BJ60/BJ70 stock wheels are? I have a hunch that they're 6-6.5" wide (?).

I've found wheels that look the same appearance-wise, but they are 5.5" wide and originally off of a 1st gen Toyota Pickup, and probably has drum brakes.

Hi All:

The first generation Toyota 4wd mini-pickup (1979-83) has a solid front axle with disc brakes. The wheels that came on these trucks might be a little bit narrower than the wheels on your BJ70 but the bolt pattern and back spacing should be the same.

The later Toyota 4wd mini pickups & 4Runners with IFS have different wheel back spacing.

IIRC, stock US-market 60 Series wheels are 6 inches wide.

Regards,

Alan

Yes, the stock steelies off a 60 series from the 80's were also used on the BJ70, so that's the wheel you want IMO. They're 15x6.
