I was having a flat fixed on the wife's 2010 FJ Cruiser the other and just out of curiosity I threw on one of my FJ40 rims to see if they'd fit. This was just the rear but it spun without rubbing (and these were the early riveted wheels). My question is: will the newer welded steel rims work on a FJC? They are 15" and I figure the diameter of the front calipers must be bigger but has anyone tried? I think it would look awesome with a set of tall skinnies and early hubcaps, although the wife would probably kill me.:)

My '67 with disk brakes and 33 x 9.5 x 15" BFGs on welded Toyota rims.

More than likely, no.

The rear might work. The front has bigger brakes and a bigger caliper than the rear so i'd be surprised if you could even get the wheel on.

To my knowledge, no one is running a 15inch wheel on an FJC unless you were to run a massive spacer, which would be a bad idea.
The stock OEM steelies for the FJ have a very old school look to them and you can run a 255 sized tire on them, quite a few folks are doing this.

Yep. 15" wheels wont work on an FJC. Like Layton said, I guess if you have a massive (not safe) spacer it might work, but realistically, no you can't put 15's on a FJC.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd love to have the old style rims but in a 16" with hubcaps, but it is the wife's vehicle (atleast for now). She hasn't caught on that I buy her something nice knowing full well that I'll get it eventually. It worked with the TT125R Yamaha I bought her knowing our son would out grow his TT50R in a couple of years. Is that wrong?
So, for now, maybe a mild lift and some tires...........
