So, as the title indicates, I have an OME heavy lift with 863 coils and was thinking of installing the Air Lift 1000 air bags at the same time as when I install the lift, but to make sure I have the correct air bag kit, I need to know what the inner coil height is with these particular coils.

Anyone out there running 863s that could take a measurement for me or already have air bags that could post up the Air Lift part number they are using?

Thanks in advance!

Jonathan

I'm sitting right about 23" right now.

Curious why you are wanting to run airbags with 863's? Towing? They are really stiff unless you are running drawers, fridge, bumper etc.

Towing is correct. My wife would like for us to invest into a hard sided camper trailer and I want to be sure that I can adjust the rear suspension for the load.

Plus at some time "soon", I am going to be adding a bumper with a dual swing outs and maybe a underbelly second tank, so although it is not heavy now it will be. Plus my wife picked them out without talking to me and I am NOT about to quell her desires to buy me stuff for the Cruisers!

23" - what is that measurement? I am looking for the interior height of the springs to correctly size the air bag total length. The total length of my 863s sitting on my work bench is 19".

Gotcha. 23" is center of hub to fender. Ill try to remember to get you the measurement you are looking for tonight when I get home from work.

I have a fridge, big heavy sub and a bior rear with dual arms. No drawers.

Thanks much! The measurement is much appreciated.

If you add up your total "add-on" weight, what would you guess it is at?

Measuring from the spring perch at the top to bottom it is about 11.5". Sort of a rough measurement. Only tape measure I had didnt want to get inside the spring and up in the perch very easily.

Hope this helps.

Mxndrnks - Thank you very much. It does help me a ton.

If I have shorter bags, say 9" as an example, will this hurt my install at all or am I better to go with longer bags, say 11.5". I can get the shorter ones from another mudder and an extremely reasonable price or I can order new ones at the longer height. Which would be better / good use of funds?

Thanks much for the upcoming opinions!

No Problem.

Honestly I am not completely up to speed on Airbags. I have never used them. I would recommend reaching out to Spressoman as he used to run them for towing his KK trailer. I know he doesn't use them any more. But, he will have more real world knowledge and experience for you.

What did you decide to go with? I am in a similar situation. I need to add air bags for towing. I currently have 30mm spacers in the back, but I am considering getting an OME suspension in the future. The air bags are more of an immediate need.
Any help would be great.
(Sorry to resurrect an older post.)

Hey there brices123,
My wife ended up purchasing my OME lift before consulting me. With that said, I am running the heavies, but I'm now thinking I will swap them out for mediums. The heavies are just too still if you are not running a full after market bumper plus some. She tows well but when unloaded she bounces better than a NBA basketball.
