My FIL gave me a Stihl MS 180C and I've only used it once which was about 8 months ago. At the time it cranked easily and ran well. Today I pulled it out to fire it up and could not get it to fire or run. It was stored with some fuel in the tank but I had added fuel stabilizer last year.

I also pulled out my Husky 55 which has have never given me any trouble and it was difficult to start, but eventually did. This was with the same fuel as used in the Stihl so I'm suspecting this is a fuel related problem.

Any guidance with the Stihl? Drain the tank and add fresh fuel? Track down a station that does not add ETOH?

Got it running. Operator error more than anything. If I had read the manual, actually if I had been able to find the manual, I may not have posted the question. D'Animal in a PM pointed me in the right direction. What I had forgotten was that the throttle interlock had to be held down when engaging the choke to get the choke to hold in position. With the saw properly choked just 2-3 good yanks set it off.
