In the process of the overhaul of my West German 028WB, I have gone through some of the components and need a little direction to assist in the wrap up of this project...my dad is requesting my services in the woods soon.
A little back ground on why I am doing some overhaul to the saw. I had the saw in its case on my garage floor at my old apartment building. The garage flooded and the high water came up to the lower portion of the saw (bottom ~1-inch). The pull start spring busted and I have since replaced it. From the water mark on the saw, it seems the lower half of the ignition coil was sitting in water, so I am unsure if it is fouled. My initial question is, can it be tested? It does not look to be serviceable, only replaceable?
The saw ran great prior to this flooding, which leads me to believe it has something to do with the ignition coil as I am not getting any spark (new plug installed). I should also note that I cleaned up the surfaces of the flywheel and contacts on the ignition coil with no change. The saw has great compression and everything else looks to be in running order.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would most grateful.
