I have two old Stihl 009L chainsaws. The housing on the oldest is damaged but worked when I put it on the shelf. The other lost compression and needs a rebuild. I have always liked the 009L for it's size and power. What I want to do is rebuild these two saws into a working. I figured out how to take it apart, but unfortunately in doing so the bearings fell out of place. Searching around the Internet I found this site and a thread on rebuilding an 009L that warns about the bearings falling out. What I'm wondering is how can I get them back in? I'm also wondering what parts I should replace when putting back together. Neither piston looks scored, but I've never seen one before either. I'm pretty handy and want to give this a try as long as expenses don't end up costing more than buying a used one on Ebay. I have other saws including an MS250. So, I'm not doing without. I've attached a picture I got from a thread posted by D'Animal that shows my problem with the bearings.
