I'm currently in Africa with a 5sp manual Fj80 3f.

The mechanism the works the clutch pedal does not seem to be working correctly. When you push it down it stays down for a second or two then jumps up. This makes engaging the clutch smoothly very difficult and the hard engaging I believe is the reason we have reoccurring blown motor mounts. When i replace the motor mounts today I dont want to have to do it again for a long time. The last one lasted 2 weeks. Help?

I think its a mechanical issue at pedal, if someone disagrees id love to hear your ideas. Tricks to fixing a stuck clutch pedal?

Are you losing cluthc/brake fluid?

I would expect the motor mounts and clutch issues are related, but I doubt the clutch issue is causing the motor mount problem (if that is what you are inferring). More likely your original problem is that you have an engine/trans mounting issue, such as the mounting of the trans to the engine (bolts loose?), etc. From your description it sounds like this original drivetrain mounting issue is causing your motor mount breakage and clutch problems.

Unless your clutch engagement is so sudden/forceful that you are breaking motor mounts, which seems unusual. Can you weigh in on this? If so, then you probably need to R&R the clutch-related pieces to determine why.

I suggest you check your trans crossmember to frame, trans to crossmember, trans to engine, both engine mounts, etc., and then all the clutch pieces.
