Hey Steve, I heard you are lying around while your back surgery heals, good luck and let it heal well. Listen to the doctor and take it easy.

Then next weekend you can go rock crawling in Ocala to test out the back.

Good Luck!!!

Jerry D.

WHAT !

Steve , didn't hear you was having surgery . Yea let that back totally heal up and then some before you go back to stripping again . Let them young people hang off that pole . My bad I didn't mean to make you laugh .

You still planning the trip out west ?

A little more info for those of us in the dark?!?

Thanks for all the kind words !! I am really surprised the word got out.

I hadn't planned on this. A week ago I had no idea surgery was in the plans. Last Monday I couldn't get out of bed, sit up or stand up.There's nothing I can think of that was done to injure it. A lifetime of abuse must of caught up with it. The diagnosis was two herniated discs. The operation was done Thursday afternoon.I'm back home recovering now.

The trip out west is still in the plans. It's all I can think about now. I have to be officially released for work by the doctor before I can take vacation time and leave the state.

The two weeks prior to the back ordeal was spent getting the Cruiser ready for the trip. I pulled apart and resealed the transfer case, replaced an axle, axle brg & seals, replaced shocks, a couple of leaf spring bushings, packed greased bearings, replaced U joints and made shackle inversion stops for the front springs.
All tools and spare parts are loaded. Most all preps are done.

At least there's plenty of free time now for some good planning!

A beat up, well maintained rig is cool.. A beat up unmaintained body is not. Most people who get spinal surgery end up getting additional spinal surgeries with in 5 yrs or less. Pm me so I can get you connected with a professional that can get your spine healthy.. To avoid future probs that are likely.

Do you have enough beer ?

Do you need a small bell so you can ring it to let your wife know you need something ?

Do you need any cannabis ? I here it makes the pain go away ......just saying ....

The Rubithon isn't in the cards for me this year :frown: :frown: :frown:

The first back surgery wasn't a success. I had to have another back surgery last week. This time they put a spacer in and fuzed a disc. I'm back home from the hospital now and am more optimistic. I can sit up in a chair and walk around now, both of which I haven't done in four weeks. There's no doubt I'm on the road to recovery.

Cliff had called the house a day after the 1st time I came home from surgery. Terri was giving him the rundown on the surgery, recovery, etc. He told her he didn't care about hearing all that. He just wanted to know when I'd be able to bend over. :grinpimp:

Glad you are on the road to recovery. I guess if there is a positive in all this is that your back didn't go out somewhere in West Texas on the drive out. Thanks for heads-up about Cliff, if I ever meet him I will keep him in front of me.

Sorry to hear about your trial and error surgery. Do you still have no idea where all this came from?

X2 on the above comment. Could you imagine something like this happening on an extended road trip? What the heck would you do?

Pat

So sorry about the Rubi trip and the back. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Maybe Ill have my piggy together enough for next year to go. Ill have 3 weeks of vacation time to do it too!

Take it easy man.

Do you still have no idea where all this came from?

Just normal wear and tear. For the past 20 years every few months I have gone through an episode of the back hurting either from fatigue of over use or lightly injuring it, two days later after giving it a break and taking 800mg Ibuprophen, I'm OK to go again. This time it was just sore from over use and continued to get worse till I couldn't sit or walk and stayed that way.

That would be TERRIBLE, being on a road trip and having it happen. Better now than later, for sure !!
