What does it mean if my radio reception goes to hell when I turn the key from acc. to run?

It's great on accessory, but while I'm driving it's really bad. I just noticed yesterday, that it's bad in the run position even if the car is not running....

Any ideas would be great!

engines have lots of electronic motors and give off lots of RF and other interference. This is a common problem with antenna such as CB and Ham.

My first recommendation is that you check all the connections. Pull the radio and make sure the antenna cable is firmly connected in the rear of the radio. Then start tracing the antenna cable for loose connection or damage to the cable.

Any loose connection or damage may not cause a problem with the engine off, but once started all the various possible interference problems "get into" the radio/antenna system via any such loose connections or damage to the cable.

Good luck!
