Another fun and fulfilling adventure was had with the club this past weekend. During the trip I noticed my steering getting a bit loose and a bit more input was required to navigate some of the sandy and twisty sections. Nothing of major concern until I hit pavement on the way home. She shook and rattled randomly. I had to slow down and saw the steering wheel furiously to keep straight. The only thing that kept her from doing the shake is to saw the steering wheel constantly. Doing that for 2 hours was tiresome but I made it home. I had this in a J**p and will start the trouble shooting with tires rebalancing and rotation....

Let me hear your Death Wobble fixes, especially if it's in an 80 series.

Bushings?

When I replaced our radius arm bushing it felt like a new car.

Make sure the panhard is very tight. If it gets loose death wobble can result.

Rebalance and rotation lessened the wobble but didn’t cure it completely. Front track bar rotates too freely and rubber bushings look worn. Order replacement…
I had all the suspension bushings changed about a year ago. As you can imagine, the original ones were cracked, hard and generally toast! Truck felt completely different with new bushings!!!

The bushings on the radius arms and tie rods ends were upgraded recently. The track bar bushings are next. Should arrive next Friday 🤞

I might have the bushings you need. Send me part numbers before you order.

Thanks Joe. I already ordered these from Rock Auto. They are shipped but are slow crawled to my door!!!
87107G (8.7107R) - rear
87108G (8.7108R) - front
They are polyurethane by Energy Suspension which I was very impressed with when I had them in my J**p.

Our 80’s parts were used to prototype those😎 Good to see they’re getting used!

We just supplied the Land Cruiser’s parts, Energy did the rest;)

Replaced both front and rear track bar bushings and that seems to be the cure. Took her on a short ride up to highway speed and trying everything to make her wobble but she was steady as a mountain goat. Will see how she fares on a long trip
