I'm considering getting my steering wheel redone and looking for info.

I did a search and found some good info/links.

Craft Customs and Dallas Custom Steering Wheel came up as recommended.

Any personal experience with someone who does great work?

I have the Loncky wrap from Amazon now which is okay, but definitely doesn't fit as nicely as the one on my old 13. Maybe it is my install, but I'd like something better.

Also, does anyone have a core steering wheel from a 16+ that they'd sell, or know anyone parting a 16+ land cruiser? It'd be great to have a separate one recovered to avoid downtime. This is my only vehicle.

Thanks!

I have used Dallas Custom Steering Wheel in the past, they do great work.

My wheel had not worn out, but I was not a big fan of the wood. I replaced with a customer Loncky leather cover.
I requested a custom config with the perforated leather on the sides (heated portion) and smooth leather on the top/bottom.

So far (two months) I am very pleased and like the feel and quality.
Did take about 2.5hrs to install, but with some planning and patience I was able to install this cover.

I suppose I could remove my lonky cover and reinstall it trying to do a better job this time. It just feels kind of tacked on, and janky because of the way it fits. I don't remember the one that I installed in my former 200 fitting as poorly.

Craft Customs redid my 1997 T100 SR5 Leather covered steering wheel. They matched the original leather color. The stitching is perfect and leather quality is excellent. Highly recommend them. Going to take about 1 1/2 weeks.

I had a thread a few months ago about getting a floater steering wheel, for when people get theirs recovered and didn't want the down time..... No one seemed that interested at that point but I still am, if we could get enough interest.

That's a brilliant idea!

You should re-install. I absolutely love mine. Feels like a brand new wheel

I would suggest contact your local car upholstery shop, if they don't do it someone they know will.

Many of the classic cars get it done and it looks original, and they do not take the wheel off.

The local here quoted me $150, I'll get it done later this year by them.

The other options are new wheel from Dubai and just swap it out or wrecker and it's likely in the same shape. and you need to R&R the wheel.

I installed a black Loncky steering wheel cover in my 09 LC, but it didn't match well with my dark brown/tan interior. The "black" cover was much more on the gray side of things. So, I dyed it with this stuff:

Amazon product ASIN B000HHM20M
It took me several coats and I still need to do a few more coats at the top of the wheel, but it's terrific. The dye even added a nice glossy finish that feels great.

I installed my Loncky steering wheel cover in March and still very pleased. No wear and holding up very well.
My stock wood/leather wheel was in good shape…but I never was a fan of the wood.
