I know the CT200h steering wheel fits the 470 (albeit the buttons need rewriting) , but what about the 460? I’m looking to possibly replace my 2010 460 steering wheel with a 3-spoke design from another Lexus vehicle instead of trying to restore / paint the existing one. The 460 steering wheel is uncomfortable for me to drive long distances with. I got used to and found a great position for my hands on my MOPAR’s 3-spoke design. We frequently drive to CA, CO and now gonna add ID to that list so gotta be comfy. Haha.

I *like* the 2020 460 steering wheel but being brand new it’s way more than I want to spend. Would wait until a few of these are parted out after being totaled before these are not sky high.

I can't recall anyone (here,CL,or GXOR) previously swapping for another steering wheel. There was an attempt on CL to retrofit heated steering wheel but wasn't plug and play.

Just guessing but other Toyota/Lexus wheels would probably fit fine... the more challenging piece would be terminating all the wiring and harnesses that are likely different....assuming the other wheel had all the necessary buttons.

It’s almost worth trying. This CT200h wheel I found (pic added) has the same buttons I do. Might be worth trying as the model years are pretty similar with the CT200h being 2011-2013. If I could locate the connector type on hi-1000ec I could make my own harness to plug and play.

It I didn’t have to buy a front grille moulding I would of bought this wheel tonight.

Not sure if you planned to install MTS but lack of these would make access to those settings not possible among some other settings.

Thats a good point. While I won’t mess with adding MTS I do wonder if I could either tap in to and run wires back to switches or locate the wires in the harness before the wheel and do the same.

Probably... rewire but totally custom work there... you will want to study the wiring diagrams in the FSM

Probably need a different airbag as well

I plan on obtaining the proper airbag for this wheel if I decide to get it.

This sort of stuff is definitely custom just like making my flash relay harness for the Smart Tap. I see it as a learning experience.

Something to think about if true... probably won't matter but it sounds like CT200h uses somewhat non-typical setup compared to other vehicles.

"the CT200h has a unique method of securing the horn / airbag to the steering wheel. There are no Torx head screws to loosen. instead there are 3 spring clips that secure the airbag to the steering wheel. "

You may lose the heated steering wheel option.

I don’t have it...or at least I’ve never found out how to enable it. And it’s only on the leather portion correct?

Heated steering wheel on the '10-'13 Premium, '14-'21 Luxury and optional on '21 Premium

Correct... it is only the the leather portions.... ever since I had one years back on a 2002 Maxima was glad to have it again in my 460... appreciated if you spend time in cold climates

Retrofit attempt here --->

Ok so I have the base model so no heated wheel for me!!

Where did you see the CT200h wheel on the 470? I'd love to swap one over on my LX470!

Cannot remember but it may have been on clublexus. Do the LX and GX share the same bolt pattern?

I wonder if the FSM photos for both vehicles could help with that?
It would make sense for parts sourcing and tooling to use the same bolt pattern and anything else that would carry over.

GX wheels swap over to the LX so I'd assume it's all compatible

The only thing that may not line up may be the contours (curves) of the plastic center horn area that transforms into the steering column. That may be different from an LX.

After doing some internet digging, it looks like the GX470 and LX470 wheels and contours appear to be the same. Also shared with the Tacoma and 4runner platform, meaning the newer wheels (3rd gen Taco, 5th gen 4R) swap over.

Hmmm that’s good news. I need to figure out what has a 3-spoke wheel I can try to adapt.

Certainly good news! Newer LX/GX wheels are 3 spoke but $$$. Camry, Corolla, rav4 etc may work
