Hello,

I sideswiped a tree at a slow speed (~10mph) the other day. I guess my front wheel hit it too becauase the alignment was off afterwards. I had an alignment done but something is still wrong. The car drives straight with the wheel centered but I only have 1.5 turns to the left until lock while to the right there are 2.25 turns until lock. So left turns are wide. Can anybody guess what the problem might be? Do you think I bent part of the steering linkage? It drives just as smoothly as before. Thanks for the help.

I'm guessing that the arm on the steering box has shifted on the shaft so that the box is no longer centered with the linkage. So when you turn to the left you run out of available movement in the steering box before you hit the stops on the knuckle.

To make sure you would want to remove the left front tire and check out the linkage.
