Has anyone had any luck fInding steel wheels, or cheap alloy wheels for the 100's ?
I need wheels for the snow tires.

we picked up a second set of 16" oe alloys on ebay. two years ago. maybe $200 for four. you'll see a ton of them with chrome plating for $600. just hold out for someone ditching a set of plain janes. i would search using "land cruiser wheel" "land cruiser rim" and then substitute lx470 for land cruiser. i'll bet there's at least five or tens sets on there. i'd stay away from the oe 18's, as there areent really any vaiable options for snows.
if you care, we put nokian wr's on our 100 and pirelli scorpion snows on our 80. the nokians are a really fine tire.

If enough people were interested, I think we could get some custom built. There is a guy that had some made for his G-Wagen business and I think they could get them built for the 100 series.

Bahaha, this is funny. The guy mentioned there is Chuck Henry, who does G-wagon buildups on the side. Very nice/cool guy. I was just chatting with him, he said the custom made steel ones he did, he sold for $150 each, not cheap at all he realized. He said the most back spacing was about 5", and you could get less (to push the tire out more)..uzj100 said:

Ok, maybe not. Check ebay for LX wheels or LC wheels. There are a ton of them on there.

I second the Nokian's. We have used every known studded snow tire known to man at work, by far the Nokian Hakkenpilita are the best and I got them for the 100 last winter. Hell, ya don't even have to turn in the lockers!! with em' Tall and skinny!

I third the ebay option. I got a set of used LX wheels on there and they were about $200 and in great shape. Unfortunately they had the "gold" trim on the center caps, but some spray paint took care of that.
there are a couple of LX 16"ers on ebay right now, both are under $300.
