Steel Diamondplate

Where can I buy steel diamondplate locally?

I plan to put it around the rear quarters over the existing metal, welding a seal all the way around. Any suggestions for guage?

because dirt and moisture will get between the metals and rot it faster.

Plus it looks gay.

Every legit 40 owner will disown you. Diamond plate is for Jeepers and Jeeper wanna be's.

See your 40 to 4Rnr and buy a Rubicon.

It makes no difference how well you seal it. rust will form under it faster than a fat man on a sammich.

honestly i've seen more diamondplate on 40s than i have on jeeps but then again, i am a newb...

so the trucks in the shop right now and the rear right quarter was really dented and wrinkled so i thought i'd replace it with diamondplate. even this doesn't justify it?

Listen, do what you want to it. But I'm telling you, No matter what happens you'll get rust underneath the diamond plate. Just remember that a few folks tried talking you out of doing something that'll screw the body on the truck rather quickly.

Most of the 40s with diamond plate corners are rusted to hell in those spots. All you're doing is hiding crap under it. Leave it until you get the funds to repair it correctly.

alright i'll try to get the wrinkles hammered out to being like new. the rockers were rusted through already so i threw the diamondplate on there already...

Tell you what, go back in the 40's section and search diamond plate. Every post will show that it's hiding rust or causing rust to form.

don't get mad at me for this---just a question; does it rust because it's covering up existing metal? or is diamonplate just more prone to rusting?

It collects and holds debris and water. Plain and simple. Nothing else to say.

alright wel thanks guys for the advice. would've sucked to have spent all this time on the truck and then have it rust through very quickly...
