When I start my 98 lx, it sputters and dies . The only way to keep it running is to give it some gas for ten to fifteen seconds. After that the rpm’s flutter up and down for a bit longer before it idles steady. No check engine lights or anything. Any ideas? Thank you.

Possibly a faulty throttle position sensor for RPM fluctuations.
Fuel filter?
Vacuum leaks?

Do all cleaning the other members have mentioned above first. If it still an issue then look at the Fuel pump as it could be going. Check your fuel pressures at startup, while running and after engine is turned off. There are specific psi measures that the FSM should tell you or search on here and get the pressures.

About 45-60 psi is typical for port injected fuel pumps.
