Starter

I have a Fj 62 and more and more when i try to start my engine all i here is a click, so i try to restart it and sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't, but eventually it will start. Is it my starter or something else? Thanks Matt

I'm going through this right now as well. It'll get worse. If you search, you'll find many suggestions on how to clean the starter and solenoid. You'll also find suggestions that say you'll have to replace it soon enough anyway. I'm replacing mine tomorrow because the solenoid pinion on mine is stuck, making it impossible to turn the engine off without disconnecting the battery. Ugh.

i think clicking is dead battery, or bad connections to the battery

bad starter contacts. takes about 15 minutes to repair. Ok, 15 minutes besides the tiem you spend removing and reinstalling the starter. Easy easy job. Search mud for more info, there are several links.

I just wanted to let you know that i had my battery checked today and that was the problem, it had three dead cells, it was also 5 years old, so it was time, alot cheaper than a starter, thanks for your responses. Matt
