I thought I would post another product endorsement. Hopefully Junk will laugh at me less about this than through my Leatherique madness episode!!!

I was impressed with the stainless steel locking tie straps I recently ordered from Eastwood. Originally I ordered these to go with heat shielding products that protect the wiring looms and hoses and vacuum lines that are close to the turbo. In particular, there is a wiring loom that runs from the front electric diff lock actuator up to the area around the air box that was starting to show signs of melting. The wires inside were fine but thankfully it showed me an area of concern in a polite way!!!

Anyway, these things are super cool ... they are stainless, they are super strong, they are wide enough not to chafe things but thin enough to fit where any thick regular tie strap would fit, and here is the coolest part - they are removable and reusable! That's right, to remove them take the end of another tie strap and push it in reverse through the locking mechanism. Simply select one strap with a lot of excess left over and cut off that excess, this piece should be stored safely somewhere cause it is just the right size and thickness and shape for this purpose. When you push the end of another tie strap through the lock, you push a small stainless steel ball bearing up a progressively larger ramp like area, this then releases the tension. It's sort of like a mechanical chinese finger!

Due to cost, I realize these would be used in limited applications and in reality most of my tie straps are 3M plastic tie straps. But, for when you want something stronger and more heat and friction resistant than plastic, these are the ticket. I've got them holding several stainless steel woven lines in specific spots, holding several heat shielded wiring looms in specific spots, and also holding the actual heat shielding material onto hoses, lines and looms around the turbo. They would be wonderful in hundreds of different applications. You are probably already thinking to yourself, " hey, that would work on my... "
