where do i find stainless steel nato style 5 gallon...20 litre jerry cans, or regular green steel cans...in north america

The only place I've seen SS NATO cans is in Europe/England.

Used NATO cans are available for $20 from CTD (Cheaper Than Dirt) or Sportsmans Guide (not recommended).

Good luck.

I'm sure North Shore Offroad in North van would be able to source them for you, but they too are not cheap!

I don't know if they have a US distributor though...Limes offers Stainless Steel Fuel Jerry can & Stainless Steel Fuel Jerry Can Holder

I got mine from Expedition Exchange out of California. They have a great deal on buying four. Here's their link

-- EE -- Expedition Exchange Incorporated

I have two water cans and two fuel cans. Their website indicates a change in law about these cans so you may want to buy them now....

Why do you want the steel ones? I understand the army uses the new plastic ones now for good reason. Then again, the army has no style...

there is an army surplus store on 12th in new west that i bought a used steel jerry can at for 20$. works great. i also got 2 used scepter military cans for 25$ each. dunno what they still have but definitly worth a look. i think its called Dave's Surplus? something like that...they got new ones too. good luck.

I believe the new change of regulations is EPA related, not DoT. And they are saying that a few guys with jerry cans on the backs of their 4x4s are gonna turn the planet into Venus with all the evil greenhouse gasses they release.

Sarcasm to the side, they have a small disadvantage in that if left sitting over a long period of time, and improperly sealed, the petrol could evaporate away leaving you with maybe 18 Litres instead of 20 Litres, gasses be damned. To me, that is more important than gas vapors, is losing my petrol. :|

Pardon the newb question, but why are you looking specifically for stainless steel? Is it an issue with the fuel you're running -- home made bio-diesel or something? They do look pretty slick!
