It seems to be common for Cruisers to develop an irriating little "eeek eeek" noise from directly over the left sunvisor. In my 1996 LX450 I could stop the noise by pressing upward on the headliner. The problem is the fat wire harness between the liner and roof - it has just enough slack to move around as the truck's structure flexes and vibrates.

To fix:

Drop down the front of the headliner: remove the left door seal (upper portion), the two 1 inch trim plugs over the left door, sunroof trim edging (front portion), the left A pillar grab handle, left sunvisor and retainer clip, sunroof console, rear view mirror and right sunvisor retainer clip. Swing the right sunvisor over toward the right door. Pop loose the clip holding the upper part of the left A pillar trim to the body.

CAREFULLY pull down the front part of the headliner to expose the area. Cruiserdan tells us this is a VERY expensive part, so don't crack or tear the liner. It is brittle.

Wipe out any dust or blow clean with compressed air.

Note the movement of the wire harnesses by pushing on them. You will probably be able to make them squeak.

Two choices:

Quick method: squirt small blobs of silicone sealant in all areas the harness can chafe against itself or the structure. Avoid getting sealant on the connectors or anywhere else that might require disassembly later.

"Better" method: heck if I know. But there probably is a more satisfactory solution that gluing everything down...

Reassemble the headliner parts and enjoy your new QUIET Cruiser. My cabin is remarkable silent now. Now I just need to figure out the "eeek eeek" noise in my driver's seat back.

The job should take no more than an hour unless you screw up. Give the sealant time to cure before driving the truck. Leave the windows open if possible to get rid of the uncured rubber stink.

Note: the interior light/ switch bezel in the sunroof console also made noises in my truck - the bezel was loose in the clips and ratlled over bumps. I fixed it with thin foam weather stripping between the bezel and light housing.

my headliner aslo makes noise, thought it was closer to the door though?

My '93 has a slight rattle above the driver's door maybe 3 inches at center. Only hear it once or twice a year at the perfect bump frequency. Thanks - bet it's the same harness, but my headliner's gonna be easier to deal with.

i think my little irritating 'eeeek eeek' is near the turn-signal lever or dash board in that area...
