Port Melon is on the North side of the same inlet that squamish is on, so I guess it's feasibe to walk up the inlet and you'd eventually get to squamish. But that is still a fair ways south of Powell River.

type in "princess louisa inlet bc" into google maps, and see where you'd have to drive (or walk) around. It's a long way from PR to Squamish.

Well there is a power line running from Squamish to Port Mellon. There is one other major obstacle, even if there is a trail to service the power lines. You would have to get your truck across Squamish River. Sounds like any trails north of Squamish would be backpacking routes and not really trails.

That reminds me. We explored the Elaho River and its many logging blocks 12 years ago. We got a long way in but even then the abandoned logging roads had been reclaimed by the alders and there were some eroded road sections with 10 foot high banks that needed to be winched both down and up. I can't say how far in we got but some days were pretty slow going.

I have done some aerial scouting from Brackendale/Squamish NNW to the Power River area, and I don't think it's possible. That said, there are some reasonably level areas (flood plains?) which might be passable when nearly dry. If you could find a way to follow them to the coast, you might be able to make it.

Still, I think your chainsaw would be running more often than your Cruiser!

The power of Google! I was browsing images for fj55 and for some reason one of the those float cabin pictures came up, and pointing to my favourite website! Now me being a born and raised Powell Riverite, I was naturally curious, having spent many a summer on that lake and cabins.
So as has been said, no it cannot be driven. The article that expat linked was from info I had given Lars at BC4x4.com, from the magazine "Beautiful British Columbia" circa 1970 something or other. One of the lads in that photo is my oldest brother.
