Brian end up taking a later flight, or did he manage to get the 3:15 due to some miraculous delay due to the airlines? If we hadn't hit a accident on 64 near 440, we would have had him there on time!

He caught a 5pm flight, said he got all the way home no problem. He had a blast :D

Thanks again for bringing him for me

Yesterday took longer than expected so we stayed the night to hit Wright Brothers today. Stopped for food, truck wouldn't start, got a jump, when backing up truck was low power or something and then jumped into front bumper of a car. But to much surprise the bumper had minor damage, told E good thing we don't have the ARB rear bumper yet. So off to Napa, both battery and Alt are shot. Both are under warranty, but got to find another alt in stock. So thanks to Brian showing E the dual battery set up we now have a spare battery incase we don't make it to Raleigh on the replacement battery, "we can use the spare for the dual battery setup."

E said "I have such an Ih8mud salute going on right now."

Wow, that's the most carnage filled STR i've seen. Even when we were all wading through the deep puddles years ago nobody had a break. You guys need an award for this one.

Johnny does the engine not stall out when you let the clutch out??

eric hope you make it back ok

No stall.

@erymer and family are scheduled to be in durham at 6:18pm. I'm going to meet them to help change out their alternator.

Damn that sucks, I would guess an input/output shaft in the trans/tranny broke somewhere.

I've also heard of and seen on a cummins nv4500 set up the hub of the clutch actually breaking but with you able to shift through the gears that isn't the culprit.

I'm hoping input of the transfer. That's going to be the easiest and cheapest to replace out of everything between the rear driveshaft and the engine's crank.

I would be blown away if the clutch is what's bad. IIRC it's a 13" southbend 800 horse clutch made to go behind built 6BTs, not my little motor.

Remember, the theme is overbuilt here so that I can yank larger trucks out without breaking anything. That clearly did not pan out this time, but we'll get her fixed up and move forward.

I yanked a larger truck with mine, and it's just a measly factory petrol! :D
I love you Johnny!

Do you know what the limit is?

Not sure if it's different in NC than SC, but we get up to 200 miles of towing, per incident, 3 times per year. Hopefully we won't need it, but since the incident over Christmas last year, we are AAA members for life. It's not just a good idea, it is wife-mandated.

On the road again..we think. So alt seems fine, thank you Johnny for calling around and being there to help with the on the road HAMOM :). So we are now on 40 on the final stretch home.

Wow. What a trip. We made it home safe and sound. Definitely worn out. Johnny thanks for coming out to make sure all was ok. Im beat and gonna crash and will share more about the fiasco that was our journey home tomorrow.

Another great STR. In true Traylor fashion never to arrive in the same vehicle or in 3 out of 4 occasions even a Land Cruiser!!! Nice to meet a bunch of new faces and to see others I have not seen in years. Man time flies. In case I don't make it out to another one I'll be hosting a STR west coast version around 2020 and you are all welcome to attend.

Holy crap, just catching up on all this. Epic event carnage, just goes to show the spirit and nature of this club and it's members. Glad everyone got home after such challenges...
That tow through the high wind and surf is something I'll never forget. Glad to be part of that right there. The video doesn't do justice to just how narly and butt puckering it really was at some point.

Got the transfer case pulled apart last night. It was the spud shaft. This is why I didn't take it apart at the beach.

Is there a better grade shaft available for that case Johnny?
Never boring is it? :)

If I were you guys I'd be pressure washing the hell out of your trucks. That sand gets everywhere and it is full of salt. I just made this for use under the trucks. 24" straight and bent it with a conduit bender at lowes
