So, yes plannng for meals is a must as we're limited for kitchen space. But, let's move this back and forth to email and we'll get this rolling. Both for the meal planning and events. Normally we've done the big sightseeing type stuff on the weekend, but since we've got a big group staying the entire week, we can plan some different side trips.

The horses should be all around the houses up there, we've seen them the most in that area, and almost ran ome over coming over the dunes...
Ok not sure if an email has been sent yet but I haven't seen one. I know I need to get on the ball with food planning as we are less than a week away from this.

As of now we are planning on staying in Manteo Saturday night. Grabbing some shrimp for the boil in that area so we don't pay Corolla type prices. We will head up to Corolla first thing Sunday morning to avoid the mad dash going in after 12.

I'm gonna plan on Monday for the boil. I don't want to occupy fridge space with seafood any longer than necessary. We will plan on fending for ourselves for breakfast and most likely lunch.

Well, no one sent email addreses to me, so I'll put it out here.

So, I was going to throw out a tentative schedule, but due to the ever changing weather, and wants/desires of the group, we'll decide each night what the next day has in store for us. We can stay relatively close or we can make a very long drive to make a ferry trip to Ocracoke. And of course there is plenty to do in between.

Lighthouses: Currituck, Bodie, Hatteras, and Ocracoke
Sights: Jockey's Ridge (hang gliding and sand sliding), Wright Bros. Memorial, Fort Raleigh/Elizabethan gardens/Aquarium/Lost Colony
Fishing, Crabbing

Since the whole group will be with us on Saturday, I'm proposing the first official semi-sanctioned ONSC Beach Party. I'm thinking another seafood theme, so we'll make use of the pot Eric's bringing.

Monday night: Seafood boil
Tuesday Night: Mexican, not a true ONSC event without that theme
Wednesday: Night out?
Thursday: Let's grill out: Burgers,Brats,Dogs,etc.
Friday: Communal Spaghetti Pot?
Saturday: Seafood/Grill

I'll add to the breakfast an bring a bunch of eggs and additions for omelets to any that would like...

If we go out, lunch might be best as portable and cooler friendly...

sorry man. I assumed they were on the membership list or something. I'll pm it along with phone numbers for Stacy and I. That way all partygoers will have our contact info if needed.

If I am better off just giving $$ that's fine by me. We will be cramped for space anyways. Sounds like we take care of ourselves for bkfst/lunch then group supper.

Any updates on how we are going to handle group meals?

Let me know what I need to bring for group meal.

My email for anyone interested is billwrightdalmatia at gmail dot com

I most want hang gliding.
Also aquarium is good and Lost Colony/History stuff should be, I'd go.
The Graveyard of the Atlantic museum at Hatteras Village is pretty new and should be about completely on-stream now. Two of their prizes are an early lighthouse lantern and a German Enigma code machine. I was there it was just opening and they had only a quarter of it furnished. NOT to miss.
I was wondering about stripping out Bonnie and see how far she can jump.
If you're going to make it to Hatteras Village then a ferry ride across to Ocracoke for a beach ride and a burger is a must. Wednesday might be a good night for that, there are a couple of killer eateries there.

Can we fish off the shore where we're going?

We're not going to get there until Friday evening unfortunately. I can pitch in spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread, anything, if that's what we want to do.

For Saturday, I can try to catch some stuff (probably won't though) or bring shrimps, salmon, whatever.

Brian, you have my email :D

Everyone,

I'll send out a detailed menu list to everyone tonight. Hopefuly it still gives you enough time to grab some stuff. If everyon can, grab some firewood and we'll do a bonfire on Saturday night. Also, everyone try and bring some TP and paper towels. I'll try and assign the other major items, and of course we'll pick things up as we forget them!

Stay tuned...

You guys and gals have fun! We'll catch the next STR for sure (later this year??).

  • Monday: Rymers are planning/hosting the Seafood Boil, this is for 11 adults and 13 kids. Let Bill know what to help out with/bring.
  • Tuesday: Keefers and Traylors will handle Mexican (11 adults, 13 kids)
  • Wednesday: Night out (could shift days depending upon what we're doing)
  • Thursday: Switching this to Spaghetti night, we'll let the SC guys take this for planning ease and amount of items needed (15 adults, 13 kids)
  • Friday: Grill Night, everybody bring enough meat/grill products to handle your crew + a few extra (then we'll make sure we have enough for sharing), + bring a side (sign up)
  1. Keefers:
  2. Rymers:
  3. Traylors:
  4. Gabe:
  5. Aqua:
  6. Bill:
  7. Eric/Sarah:

  • Saturday: ONSC Beach Party Seafood Extravaganza and Beer Garden
Bring some local beer to contribute to the garden, and we'll make a menu up by Friday. I think with potential full fridges, limited space in everyone's truck, and wanting fresh seafood, we'll plan this by Friday and send out a search party for things we might need.

love coming come and finding surprise packages on the doorstep. Love my wife. She's bad ass.

Eric and I will bring hot dogs and buns. For a side can you put me down for making a corn casserole? Also I can make a strawberry spinach salad with poppy seed dressing if you want.

Regarding breakfast, if you want I can make a breakfast casserole.
