I about to up grade to a more spoolgun friendly welder.
I have some work contracts coming up that will require SS and aluminum welding. I dont have the time to Tig the stuff it just needs to stick together.
I dont mind spending more money on a better setup , I just dont know if there is really a difference.
I will be dumping my MM 175 ( that has worked great) and looking for something in the lincoln 215 ish range.

I have NO experience with a spoolgun and I need some wisdom..

Thanks ,

ken

just picked up a miller 212 and theres the option of a spool gun for the welder or if you want a bit more power theres the 252 but then the spool gun is alot more expensive as its a bit more of an industial machine. cant say how the 212 works, i still need to get it wired in and i didnt opt to go for a spool gun either simply because i cant see myself using it that much. good luck

Took the plunge!!!!

Im the proud parent of a brand new Lincoln 215 and spoolgun kit.

The spoolgun on this model is more expensive than most , but you get what you pay for.
Im looking forward to zipping up some aluminum and ss.
The only problem is I have this crazy vision of a aluminum front bumper!

Oh yeah , anyone need a mm 175?

If your welding ALOT of aluminum...you will find out how expensive those small spools get. How many parts are we talking here? You may want to transition to a push-pull gun if the job dictates it.

The spoolgun seemes to work great, Im ok with the inccreased price of the small rolls , Im not going to be doing that much.
