How the hell do you do it? I "think" I got all he bolts out that need to be removed, but the chit just ain't comin apart. WTH am I missing? 4 long ass bolts and the stake nut off the output shaft right?

I have mine out now too but have not taken it apart yet. I think the back half of TC come off first. Then there are a few bolts inside.

You MUST take it apart while it is still attached to the tranny. There is NO other way short of breaking it off! All the small bolts around the perimeter must come out.

OK so all the bolts have to come out then what? Is there an online version of this FSM section?

Charles, I finally got around to cutting up that 45 wagon do you still need the lower rear 1/4wdw sills? If so I'll hang onto them until you or someone else you know is traveling through.

Bman-There are more bolts inside the case that you cant see. If I remember, several of the inside ones are under the input gear, so it has to come out as well. First pull the back of the case-to do that you need to pull the output flange, then the exterior bolts, then the linkage attachemnt, the speedo cable, then split the case and remove the input gear from the shaft. Thne you will see the remaining bolts.

There is a FSM online at birfield. As the others have said, you need to spilt the case to remove the front half from the transmission. You'll need to remove all the removable covers on the case and the three staked nuts (transmission output shaft, front and rear companion flanges). You have to remove the transfer gears to get at the bolts that hold the front half to the transmission. I've had mine apart a few times. I fabed the SST for removing the staked nuts from a piece of steel channel. I haven't needed other SST's, but all I've ever done is replace gaskets and seals (no bearing replacements).

Yep, I'd like the 1/4 window sills if you have them. If there are still parts left the steering box mount from the frame would be handy as well. Any chance of sending to El Paso in the next few days? There will be a guy from here up there next week by car. I'll gladly pay the UPS charges.

As for online manuals, yep they are there www.downloads.birfield.com/manuals/Chassis-Body-1984.pdf
That's the whole thing!!
