can i attach a split case style transfer case from the late fj40's/ fj60's that came behind a 5 speed to a 4 speed tranny that originally had a single piece transfer case behind it?

It will bolt up, however, the trans output shaft is 19 spline on the split cases...and 16 on the one piece cases...

Just swap the trans and tcase assembly...and then change drive shafts... ;)

Good luck!

unfortunately the reason i ask is that i found a wrecker that has a flat price on transfer cases, so i can get a split case cheap, but as an assembelled unit, their about 1000 bucks...

altho the local U pull it has a couple of 5 speeds from 60 series... they only charge 300 for a gearbox... so long as whoever's behind the cash register doesn't realisethe T case is attached:whoops:
