Greetings form a real rookie! I am new to this forum and any forum for that matter, however I can already see from thread searching during the replacement of my 4 speed and t-case that this forum is my best friend.

After disassembling the speedometer drive gear housing on my broken t-case I discovered a spacer or some kind of ring that I'm thinking dosent belong there.

Can someone one tell me if this should be there?

This was the installed sequence...t-case bearing, thin shim, the pictured ring, space, drive gear. Metal from the bearing has bonded to the ring on one side, the other side where the spacer rode against it has gotten very hot at some time...????

no and for the life of me I cannot figure out what the person who installed it was trying to remedy. There are shims of varying thickness that go in there but they are smaller and for the purpose of setting the correct preload on the output bearing so the shaft doesn't wobble/leak. Get a FSM as it has a great write-up on this procedure including part numbers for the different thickness shims.

Factory Supplied Manual? Where can I get one?---Scratch that I foud a number in the FAQ.
