First and foremost I must say, Awesome Forum. I recently bought an 88 Toyota LandCruiser. Over all not in too bad of shape but needs a lot of little things to get here road worthy again. You forumns have been a great help but I have yet to find anything on the web or anyones forumns pertaining to my problem. I have uncovered a nice "chewing-gum" or "silly putty" fix every now and again while I have been going over pieces of my new ride and am curious if this next thing is one of them or if anyone is familiar with this.
I got my rig to a point I could take it for a ride around the block where I found out the Speedometer is not working. So, I ordered a new one AND I even got it from the dealership. Here is where things don't connect, literally. I disconnected the speedo cable from the back of the instrument panel, climbed under the truck to find out it wasn't connected to the transfer case. It just dead ended at the VSS. The fitting on the transfer case had a screw on connector on it and so did the other side of the VSS like there was supposed to be a cable between them. So I go back to the dealer to get this cable and they have no idea what I am talking about. Iread around and it says in multiple places that the VSS goes into the transfer case and you cable into the VSS. NO go. The speedo cable length does not allow that. A little help here, please? Anyone? IS this thing on? <chirp,chirp>
