I am working down the list of issues on the 71 I bought 2 weeks ago. Next is the non-functioning speedo.
I took the cable off on the engine side of the speed detector and spun it, the speedo works. I have not gone to the t-case side yet (ran outa time). In any event I am wondering what the point of having the VSV is. Might just be easier to throw in a one piece cable and ged rid of the VSV. Who wants vacuum retard in the dizzy anyway? A bit more advance could mean more power anyway. The only benefit I see is the throttle positioner on the carb.
So anyway, I am thinking of going to a single piece speedo cable and get rid of the VSV/joke of a computer, etc...
What would I need to alter with the vacuum hoses to do this? Just cap it all off, including the dizzy and throttle positioner? Leave it all connected and just remove the speed sensor? Remove the spee marker device also?
Thanks for your input!
