Hello All!

Looking to get a lift on my FJ Cruiser, and based on what I have read here I am leaning towards the OME 886/895.

My Setup:
2014 FJ Cruiser (Off Road Package)
ARB Front bumper (no winch)
ARB Roof Rack

Will be getting the following by the time of the lift:
ARB Rear Bumper
Rock sliders

I also plan to put on 285/70R17 BFG AT Tires.

As stated above I do plan to stick with OME (open for suggestions) but am not sure if i need medium of heavy and how much of a lift each of them will put on my cruiser. I don't want something too stiff that will not make it enjoyable to drive.

I primarily use my FJ for camping and snow trips and max will carry 4 people + gear for those activities.

OME lifts are good value for the money, but the coilover options are worth the extra money if you can afford them, IMO.

Both the OME medium and heavy springs will net you the same lift (a nominal 3"), the difference is in the spring rates and how much weight each will carry. If you put on the heavies and don't have the weight to justify them, you will lose articulation and your truck will ride hard. Personally, I have never known anyone who had the heavy springs that liked them very well. The mediums are fine for the vast majority of builds, including your proposed mods.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Can you point me to some coilover options? To be honest I've seen them mentioned and have done limited research on them.

We run Icon coilovers on the shop FJ and love them, they soak up the bumps on the trail and on the street very well! They also have a threaded body so you can adjust ride height. There are some other options on the market also. Icon makes a few different sets, Fox makes a few different setups, we also even have a Bilstein Adjustable coil over option!

I run Icons on mine and they have served me well and are still going strong after well over 100,000 miles, but I have installed just about every brand there is on other people's FJC's and the ones that impressed me the most were the Kings.

X2, I did med, then heavy, then ICON, message is...find the resources to go with an adjustable coilover up front, something rebuildable is best IMHO...

I'm another one who started with OME (heavy) then went ICON (Stage 1 setup). I ran the OME's for several years until they wore out. They were a definite improvement over stock, but very stiff at first. You will feel every bump in the road, but you will notice fewer nose dives on braking and overall handling improvements. If you go OME, then I recommend medium springs all around for your application.

I'm saving my pennies for Icon coilovers for the front and different UCA's.

Currently running toytec Eibach 110-620 with 5100s up front, and Icon lift springs and Icon shocks in the back.
