Hi all,

Sorry for the dumb question - attempting to drop my fuel tank, but I can’t seem to get the metal fuel line disconnected. Have never done this before, must be doing something wrong and I already feel stupid. Tried to just turn the two nuts on the line with no luck - was scared to go at it too hard and break it. Anyone got any advice for me? This is the hard line that sends fuel just outside the tank. Sorry for being such a noob but gotta start somewhere!

Pics?
FJ60?
Which line?

There are five small lines right under the large filler neck and two lines on the front of th tank that connect to the fuel pump.

All of these are soft lines with a clamp on each end.

And also one electrical plug in the top middle that goes to gas gage.

Shouldn't have to unscrew anything but two bolts that hold the whole tank in on a 60.

Here is a pic of the lines coming out from the fuel pump. Anyone know how to disconnect?

You have to use two wrenches twisting opposite of each other.

Think like it's a bolt and you have to keep the nut from spinning.

The little one will get boogered up very easily as you can tell. Others may nay say it, but use a set of vice grips clamped down tight to turn that side. The bigger one on the left should take a wrench fine, but can use two vice grips. Once it's broken lose, stop using vice grips and just twist it out without rounding it off.

Like you said, make sure the force you're putting on is twisting against the nuts, not bending the line

Never mind... GOT IT! Proper wrenches, better understanding of how that fitting works, and a ton of PB blaster. Now to see if I can get this tank out...
