Where are you folks who do your own maintenance buying some of the special tools for the work?

For example, I need to adjust my valves, so I am looking for the spacer tool to make sure I get that done correctly, but I have no idea where to pick one of these up.

What other tools that are the non-standard type that you find are necessary for your cruisers? Where do you get them?

TIA.

The always mentioned hub socket, either get it from a dealer for from a Cruiser vendor....

For routine service, just the hub socket in 15+ years of ownership. If you're getting into custom stuff then you need to look into more specialized tools.

btw I got my hub socket from the dealer years ago.

crows-foot sockets, and open end ratchet wrenches.

i use a big piece of light colored carpet scrap, so i can find the nuts, bolts, and other little things that fall through to the ground.
try finding a rusted 10mm nut on the drivway, at night....

I forgot to mention that there is a place called OTC in Michigan that sells the SST's described in the OEM shop manuals. I just got a hub centering guage for doing the mini disc swap on the FJ45LV (not exactly in the realm of "routine" maintenance.

Good call on the hub socket. I will probably be doing that this winter too. I will have to stop by my friendly neighborhood Sears for the other stuff.

Thanks guys.
