So I am getting around to installing my Polk replacement speakers. I am wondering if anyone has installed the new speakers straight to the metal part of the door with the adapter that comes with the after market speakers? My OEM speakers didn't come with the plastic/cardboard ring, I can't find any way at all to get the new speakers to fit inside the plastic basket. Been searching the forums all day today and just can't find anything.

I'm about to call it and go ahead and just mount them straight to the metal and splice the wires straight into the speakers.

Okay I got the front speakers in with the "pinch down" method. Moderators can delete this thread if you want to.

Different rear speakers!?

So I am replacing all my speakers. get the rear and I have what looks like 4 1/2 components. Going to try to post pics. I have searched high and low and do not see anybody saying anything about this! My Polk Db's are not going to fit! FML!

Thanks to the dremel and some creative screw placement, I got the 6.5 Polk DB's mounted to the stock speaker bracket. This truck really doesn't want me to modify it. It's been fighting me on every thing I have ever done to it!

I did a search for "pinch down" and couldn't find anything. Can you describe what you are talking about?
Basically I got one screw into one hole one the speaker and the mount basket/bracket thing. Then I "pinched" down the edges of the speaker with some more screws. Only got one screw into a hole on the speaker, the rest are on the outside on the holes.

Gotcha, thanx!
